Winners Announced
The 6th annual Houston Underwater Film Festival came off with a bang on April 11 and 12 at the MATCH – Midtown Arts & Theater Center Houston. Thanks to all the filmmakers, volunteers, committee members and all the folks who spent their weekend with us!
It’s always a very competitive event in all categories and in many respects. In the past, we have awarded category winners based solely on the realtime audience vote and have also recognized the sentiment of our 12 judges by publishing their assessment that lists (in aphbetical order) the top 10 films based on the judes’ scores. This year, as usual we have named category 1st, 2nd and 3rd places based on the audience vote, but have added new awards based on the judges’ scoring. As would be expected, there are differences and we post both of those. Filmmakers are free to use this information as they like. They can claim to be a winner (or placeer) by audience vote, judges scoring or both depending on their outcome.
We also publish the judges top 10 scoring films which offers yet another lens to view the festival.
We thank and congratulate all the filmmakers for their fantastic achievments. Get ready because HUFF 2027 entries will open soon!
